Our Leadership

Members of YPACS Boston are exposed to the American Cancer Society's network of more than 2 million volunteers worldwide. They are also given the opportunity to learn from experts in the field as well as one another, and opportunities to engage in service. This group also plans and supports a signature event to help raise funds for the important work done by the American Cancer Society.
Our structure consists of a President and Vice President who work closely with an ACS staff partner and oversee the five Directors. Each Director works with a committee of young professionals that work on different areas to help us achieve our goals. Leadership positions are renewed every fall, while committee members are welcome to join at any time.

Mike O'Brien- President

Mike is a sports broadcaster that has been calling games for over a decade.  Since coming back to the Boston area in the Summer of 2018, Mike has been working as an Update Anchor and Studio Host at 98.5 the Sports Hub and a play-by-play announcer, calling a variety of sports at Bentley University, Merrimack College, Tufts University and UMass-Dartmouth.  Prior to his return to Boston, Mike served as the Radio/TV announcer for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League for seven seasons.  A graduate of Boston College, Mike has been involved with the American Cancer Society since 2010, serving on the Philadelphia DetermiNation committee, as a co-chair for the ACS Endure Bike Ride in Northeast Pennsylvania and now as the Boston YPACS President.


Alexandra McKenzie- Vice President

Alex is an editorial services coordinator and assistant editor at Charlesbridge publishing in Watertown, MA, where she works on books for children of all ages. She graduated from Boston College in 2015 with a B.A. in English and 2016 with an M.Ed. in early childhood education. Before turning to children's literature, she taught first grade inclusion at Boston Renaissance Charter Public School. Now she strives to work on books that give every reader a voice and every child the opportunity to see themselves on the page. Her favorite genre is fractured fairytales, and her all-time favorite book is The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Don't ask her how many copies she owns. Alex first got involved with the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life after losing her aunt to lung cancer in 2006. After over a decade of working on planning committees for various Relay for Life events, she joined YPACS in 2019.


Sarah Feldman- Director of Membership

Sarah is a Sales and Marketing Analyst at Henry Elliott & Company, a healthcare IT recruiting firm. Before joining HEC, she worked in nonprofit development as an event planner, and found YPACS to be a wonderful way to bridge the gap between both jobs. She graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in upstate NY with a B.A in Public Policy, minoring in writing and dance. In college she served as the co-chair for Colleges Against Cancer which hosted Relay for Life and other American Cancer Society events. 

Donnie Todd- Director of Events

Donnie has been with JetBlue for over twelve years and currently oversees and maintains the daily operation of 150+ flights and 400+ crewmembers. A native Bostonian, having attended Fisher College, Donnie is currently enrolled at Thomas Edison University.  Aside from these daily functions, Donnie serves as the Liaison for JetBlue’s Corporate Social Responsibility team in Boston. He plans and executes local large-scale volunteer initiatives and engages customers and crewmembers in volunteering, while also creating partnerships with local non-profits, major sports teams/ venues, and local law enforcement/state officials. Donnie helps deliver JetBlue’s mission to inspire humanity – both in the air and on the ground while committing to give back in meaningful ways in the communities JetBlue serves and to inspire others to do the same. Donnie also sits on our American Cancer Society's Eastern New England Board of Directors as well as numerous councils throughout the city.

Patrick Ward - Director of Mission and Advocacy

Patrick Ward is the Talent Acquisition Manager for Halloran Consulting Group, Inc. (a proud sponsor of multiple YPACS events!), a life sciences consulting firm that assists small to medium size pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in advancing therapies that will radically change patients’ lives and transforming their organizations to maximize efficiency and allow for increased innovation. In his role, he is constantly talking to candidates about their motivations, values, and goals and the symbiosis they can potentially find with Halloran, a natural alignment with his role as YPACS’s Mission and Advocacy Director. Patrick has been volunteering with the American Cancer Society since 2002, staring with the Relay for Life events, first as a participant and then as an Event Leadership Team member for one of the largest collegiate Relay events in the country, Northeastern University (his alma mater), before joining YPACS Boston in 2019.
